with his name as the hook.Every album that
he’s put out has at least two where he
either spells or recites his name
repeatedly…. Unfortunately for him the only
decent one was on the only decent album…the
first one-anyway, this relates to me. considering
that I have more names than snoop (eyekhan:
modemo daGUERRAtype aka wax eloquent, etc.) I
could do whole albums of tracks with my name at
the center thematically…but that’s not
what I’m talking about here…I had an
idea for a concept album or ep.I hate the phrase
“concept album.” Every album should
have a concept… a concept should not be an
unusual or unique attribute for a record…
what I mean when I say that is an album that
maintains a common theme from beginning to end, a
common topic. I just don’t have a better
term for what I’m tryna do, so I use
“concept.” Making an album of this type
is difficult, and can border on
boring…that’s challenging. I like
challenges.Anyway, the concept is as followspure,
unadulterated narcissism.Using the famous reggie
Jackson quote “the magnitude of me” as
the title, the enter record would be
braggadocio… and then, after completing the
album, I would never kick the “bragging
raps” again.Never. Honest.It would be
totally tongue in cheek, of course, I’m not
that egotistical.It’ll also give me a place
to put the assorted bragging rap tracks that
I’m not planning on using on this upcoming
imen project.The imen project is a concept album
of sorts, too, and me talking about me,
isn’t the concept.

driving around brooklyn and manhattan in the RAV
4 with r. exo adams/listening to antipop/wu/and
the comas//went to greenpoint/across the
williamsburg bridge to the les/then up the east
side to 70th or so/ across central park/and back
down to the village//a nice/trafficy/adventure of
two of NYC's boroughs//working well on the
music/////got into an old DEODATO record
yesterday/ sampled a bit/did that sort of
thing///redid an old song with new bowed bass
samples from deodato////(also good organs there)
all and all/very pleased with developments at
every angle//

what's
on my mind today. not much. big shouts to
erin, adam, wolf 3, etc.finished a new song. it's
probably the simplest joint i've ever
written... it'll be the opener at our
shows, raucous, whatever... need to
throw my tv away. and my phone. need to do
work. thanks to new female distractions and
imen and complete disinterest, exams are on the
old backburner... who cares christmas
time will present a brief imen reunion before
shit gets cranking...peace to all the current
imen: koenigart, draimi, thulani, rossboss,
a boi, king b, plus the likkle bredren: william,
aubin /the massive will grow. the no-men
(see first blogentry, i think for an explanation)
will grow. ***we
are actively looking for more members of the
musical contingent of imen. especially
another mc. or a competent, creative, innovative
